Adjectives & Articles
An adjective is a word that describes a noun or a pronoun. An adjective usually comes before the word it describes, but it can also follow the noun or pronoun. Many adjectives answer the question What kind? They describe color, shape, size, sound, taste, touch, or smell. Other adjectives answer the questions How man? or Which one?
What kind? A new fire was reported yesterday. It was huge.
How many? There were three forest fires last month.
Which one? That fire was a big one.
There are also special adjectives called articles, such as a, an, and the. A and an are used only with singular nouns. Use a before words that begin with a consonant sound and an before words that begin with a vowel sound or a silent h. The is used with both singular and plural nouns.
A fire started in an area nearby. The fire raged, and the trees burned.
Special Considerations:

They can be combined into: The full plane took off.
